How to Talk to Camera Without Scripting
It can be hard to improvise and still say something sharp. Here’s the fix: Multi-clip recording.
In this workshop, I explore how to prepare for an improvised video without writing a script, including how to use prompts, plan your opening and closing lines, and record in shorter sections rather than trying to get everything right in one take.
I’ll also demonstrate techniques for recording and refining improvised videos using TikTok and CapCut.
What you’ll learn
- How to prepare for a video without scripting every word
- How to use prompts and a simple structure to stay focused
- How to record a video in multiple clips
- How to refine your message through repeated takes or editing
- How to bring more energy and personality into an improvised video
This is a recording of a live workshop, so you’ll hear questions, conversations and contributions from the people who attended.
The demonstrations use earlier versions of TikTok and CapCut. Recording limits, menus and export options may have changed, but the techniques still apply.
